What is a target audience?

Target audience refers to the specific group of consumers most likely to want your product or service**.** Target audiences are formed from different groups, for example: adults, teens, children, mid-teens, preschoolers, men, or women**.** To market to any given audience effectively, it is essential to become familiar with your target market; their habits, behaviours, likes, and dislikes.

By definition it is ““a group of people defined by certain demographics and behaviour.”

Once we have established the game idea that we are taking forward and can refine our target audience, I will come back to this model and write a deeper analysis for our target audience. This will be documented in our project proposal.

What is the target audience for my essential experience?

Our essential experience: provide the experience of immersion as a tool for physical and emotional regulation through effective sound design and visuals. We are designing our game ideas to suit the needs of a person experiencing symptoms of stress and overwhelm, whether that be as a teenager at school, student at university or adult in their career. We can target the ages of 16+.

How can I create an experience for this audience?

I can work out what I need to do to create a successful product for my target audience by establishing the data for these three design considerations: context, requirements and solutions.

Context - Why engage with this game? ****

Requirements - What do you need?
