Task 1 - Deep Dive Method

Idea generation for further research avenues:

15 Cards all featuring a different prompt. This board of cards has been put up in the studio so that my class mates can add to it when they can. I managed to get five people to add their thoughts and ideas onto it today.

I think this was a really great activity to do because it helped me to see what other people consider to bring them safety and comfort, which will be really interesting and fun to explore further. The different perspectives were also helpful in inspiring some themes that I had not yet heard of. People had very different approaches to the term "safe space" than I did.

Task 2

Quick Mind-map to quickly explore and develop points of interest for Safe Spaces.

The first mind-map is an exploration of the first topics that come to mind when I personally think of safe spaces. I tried to think outside of the box, as much as I could and landed on some more abstract themes such as possessions (how do they bring us comfort?) and thoughts about how memories and personal past experiences can influence what and where our safe spaces are.

I then moved on to another mind-map to explore some more contextual themes that I can thoroughly research through both first-hand and second-hand methods. Here is where I found some deeper, more meaningful topics to explore, such as the personal attachment to material possessions, the dependancy we develop on connections we make, and agoraphobia.

I will try to touch more on most of the themes I have found upon in these mind-maps because I think it is best to not leave any stones unturned in case I miss out upon a really exciting point to take into phase three.
