In our research into self-care and therapy techniques, we realised the power of steady breathing exercises. I thought that it would be interesting to explore how we can demonstrate such techniques in our game design and interactions.

However, I have no experience in animation or after effects which will required to create such visual motions. To begin learning how I can create my own animations and support the development of our game prototypes, I have installed Adobe Animate and completed their first tutorial.

Now I have the information I need on how to use the software and develop my first simple animation:

Our prototype for the The Game Box - Chosen Idea required two short animations. One for the breathing technique interaction in which the player must sync breathing with an expanding and shrinking image on the screen. The second was to demonstrate the player having to move about the space to interact with a series of visual elements.

Here are the variations of short animations I produced during this first training session. I intend to put further practice into this software as well as Adobe After Effects to explore the potential for visual elements we can include in our design.
