The purpose of these prototypes

Emilia and I have created these prototypes to demonstrate how we will use projection mapping of immersive and captivating visual design, to create a fully immersive safe space. We experimented with both physical spaces that we have researched during this project; the Igloo 6m Cylinder and Astrodome, as well as the incorporating our idea into a readily available space.

There are three prototypes on this page:

1. Projections within a paper prototype modelling the XR Box
2. Projected images within the Igloo 6m Cylinder
3. Short film demonstrating the intervention of our product

Summary of the design intention

Projection Mapping

• Display projections onto all surrounding walls of our immersive safe space
• The visuals that are projected will me stimulating, captivating an relax the player

Visual Design

• They will use cool colours (blues, pinks and purples) to support the calming effect
• Motion will be slow and rhythmic to promote comfort and balance
• Shapes used will be round, spiralling and soft

Audio

• Music using soothing patterns that include piano melodies using the G and C Major keys and
• Surround sound
