Electric Gamebox | Play Immersive Team Adventures

Electric GameBox is an immersive game experience that can be found at Gravity’s establishments all over the UK. It is a box-shaped interactive room that features projection mapping, touch screens, motion tracking and surround sound.

The games themselves are collaborative puzzle adventure games that task player with putting their minds together to complete fun objectives that inspire competition, encourage team skills and fills the players with energy. There are nine adventure games to choose from and the teams of players are given 60 minutes to complete the challenges.

I have chosen to research these Electric Game boxes because their use of immersive technology is both interesting and informative. How they have used the technology to create their own experience differs greatly from our own design intentions however. While Gravity have aimed to produce high energy games meant for competition and collaboration, our focus is on relaxation, regulation and reflection.

Gravity’s Headgear

The room itself features three surrounding interactive screens which respond to touch as well as the player motion and position. Therefore players are able to engage with puzzles by touching the screen, or through moving their bodies with the support of motion sensors that are attached to headgear supplied at the beginning of the experience.
